I received an email the other day that is definitely frame worthy - Raelynn, the creator of Mommy Necklaces, said she was proud of me for making it to my 1 year goal. *swoon*
If you are unfamiliar with Mommy Necklaces, prepare to be amazed. These necklaces were created by a mom (Raelynn) to be beautiful on mommies, but calming for babies that were nursing. They are hand strung by a fabulous group of women using beads that are tested and safe, feature breakaway clasps for those times when your baby forgets to be gentle, and are available in a wide, and ever changing, array of color combinations and styles.
Raelynn was so excited about my 1 year of breastfeeding celebration that she sent me not ONE, but TWO of her new beautiful Nourish Necklaces to GIVEAWAY to two of my lucky subscribers. Enter Below.
CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS:
Heather B and Jessica F
Thank you to all who entered!
for feeding time fiddlers
Inspired by nursing babies. Unique eye-catching and hand-catching design. An appealing necklace for those babies who love to fiddle and twiddle. Little black dress worthy? Probably not. A must-have accessory for an innocently pinched mom? YES!
The Nourish Necklace is a wearable sensory experience that brightens up nursing time by engaging a twiddling baby. Stranded at approximately 33" inches long, the Nourish Necklace is known as THE nursing necklace among breastfeeding moms. This bold and shimmering design will capture baby's attention, thus reducing distractibility and encouraging a nursing session that lasts longer than the classic 1-minute-on, 1-minute-off breastfeeding battle. We've been there; we totally understand.
The Nourish Necklace is artfully stranded. This necklace's unique beads feature shimmer colors, smooth textures, and large shapes that are stranded to interest little fingers while the mouth is busy feeding (this necklace is not for teething). Fun for babies, a relief for mom, Nourish is a nursing must-have. As much fun as Nourish is, though, remember that it is still a piece of jewelry: Please do not use it as a toy or allow a child to wear it. The Nourish Necklace is a unique necklace designed to be worn by mom as a tool while nursing.
Infinite Rings make a intriguing accessory when added to this necklace (to be touched only while ON the necklace).
If you get it, you probably NEED it, NOW (or maybe even yesterday!). Make feeding time a little more nourishing with this one-of-a-kind nursing necklace -- you'll be glad you did!

My tip on breastfeeding is to figure out what works best for you and your baby and go for it. For us, it's a combination of nursing, pumped milk and formula. But that's not necessarily for everyone. Hannah and Carla, for example, did nursing, pumped milk, and donor milk. Try out different ways and decide what is most comfortable for you...and don't stress if it's not exactly by the book or what someone else and her baby are doing.

ReplyDeleteMy tip is to CAKE ON the Lansinoh!! When first starting your breastfeeding journey.. even if you don't feel sore nipples yet, they are coming! Cake it on to prevent the cracks and bleeding! I've told this to SO many ladies and they say they wish they would've listened! Don't wait until the problem starts. =)

ReplyDeleteMy best tip to help increase supply is this:
ReplyDeleteGrab that delicious baby and head to bed for a mini vacation. Relax with baby, watch movies, read books be waited on hand and foot (ha, if your SO isn't lazy like mine) and just breastfeed. Be topless if you can, and feed whenever you see signs of hunger in baby. Don't latch them off at any stage unless they do it themselves, and IGNORE the housework!

ReplyDeleteWish I had known about these! I am about to end my breastfeeding journey in Jan for sure. Sadly if not before. :/
ReplyDeleteOh I am Melody Hunt on Facebook. Wantin2learn on Youtube. I actually wouldn't mind winning this for a mother who is about to start breastfeeding if that is allowed.
ReplyDeleteMy advice: It will hurt at first. It doesn't hurt for long. Your nipples need to get use to being used. If you are worried about the pain there are tons of women who can help you. I ususally looked at the La Leche League website. Don't be afraid to ask questions. Oh another good thing to do is print out the laws in your state if you plan on nursing in public.
One tip I have is water...lots of water! :)

ReplyDeleteMy tip would be to research infromation about breastfeeding. Buy a book, take a class, or go to breastfeeding sites online. I was blissfully unaware of just about everything and ended up switching to formula at 2 months with my first because I didn't know how to keep my supply up. I was determend to breastfeed my second, so I read ALOT about BFing this time around and now that I have my second we have been going strong with nursing at 5 months, and have encountered few if any problems. This is what has helped me, so this is my tip.

A tip of breastfeeding mothers: RELAX! It is so important that when you are nursing you are comfortable and relaxed. Being tense and anxious (because of nursing issues or worries about supply) will cause your body not to release an as good let down. You have to relax and let go for the milk to flow. Enjoy this time and slow your breathing and try to remain calm. This will keep baby calm and happy along with your milk flowing freely.

When pumping, try not to focus on the milk in the container, relax and read a book or something, when your body relaxes and you aren't stressing about how much you're getting, you'll get more milk! I promise!

ReplyDeleteOne tip is to get appropriate gear for breastfeeding to make it easier for u. Buy nursing tops and bras and clothing that are compatible with nursing. Just anything to make it a more pleasant and not so fussy experience.

My tip for breastfeeding/pumping is to pump one side while feeding babe on the other. I get so much more that way than by just pumping alone.

ReplyDeleteI've only been breastfeeding for two months, but the best tip I could give is to just get through the "giving up" times and you'll never look back. Days 4-8 were the hardest, most painful breastfeeding days for me. But it's so weird that now what hurt me so much, is painless, and even feels good. It's such a special time for me and my little one. Even at 3 in the morning :)

ReplyDeleteMy tip is to remember that though the nights are long...the years are short & fly by way to fast! So though there may be days when you feel like giving up or pulling your hair out- hang in there. One day you will look back & long for these days!

ReplyDeleteI really like the versatility of the Simply Strands from Mommy Necklaces. I especially like the colors Bermuda and Dream.
ReplyDeleteBuy a pump before you deliver, even if you don't plan on pumping on a regular basis. I ended up using mine several times during the first few weeks and it was a huge life saver when I had a few clogged ducts.

ReplyDeleteMy breastfeeding tips: Know that the most painful time is the beginning of nursing when you and your little one are working on properly latching. Once you and your baby learn the steps nursing becomes an enjoying and a wonderful way to bond. Also, read at least one nursing book beforehand I liked The Nursing Mother’s Companion By Kathleen Higgins. Two things I couldn’t live without are my Medela Pump in Style and my Medela sleep bras.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE mommy necklaces. I can not wait to get some of my own! I love the dangling donuts and the simple short with a donut!
ReplyDeletebuy yourself an easy to handle water bottle to keep yourself hydrated. i bring mine with me everywhere and i swear thats one of the reasons ive kept my oversupply up these last 6 months so i can donate some of my milk. also, find support anywhere you can, its helpful to have people to complain to when things go bad.
ReplyDeleteMy tip for nursing mommies is to stick with it because it gets WAY easier as they get older. I'm so glad I did (and this is coming from a mommy that went to the ER twice for dehydration in the first 6 weeks!). I am so glad I stuck with it... (Just don't be stupid like me... drink water)!
ReplyDeleteI follow you on Twitter. My name is MandD627
ReplyDeleteAfter you get into a routine and have been at it a few months, pump altleast one bottle a day. Just having my husband be able to cover one feeding in the evening was such a relief and gave me a wonderful break!
ReplyDeleteOne tip I wish I would have known when breastfeeding is that you may have a large amount of milk and 2 great ways for dealing with it is tucking a large burpcloth into your bra so any milk drips arent left onto your clothes. Second being a product that are milk bags that you can put onto the breast that your not nursing from and it catches your let down so you dont waste it into your clothes or pads. Bonus: DONATE!!!! There are so many babies everywhere in need of this liquid gold!!!!

ReplyDeleteMy tip: Stick with it. I pumped for my daughter for 6 months.. and that was awful! But I stuck with it.. I knew what was best for her and what she needed. My son was a pro at breastfeeding from the start, so we never had any issues and I've been able to breastfeed him for almost 15 months now! But with my daughter I had to tell myself constantly "Just stick with it.. she needs it!" So glad that I was able to give her what I did!
